Dunedin Urgent Doctors & Accident Centre provides accessible and swift urgent medical care for non-life threatening emergencies, illnesses and injuries for anyone in the Dunedin and Otago region

For more than 30 years, Dunedin Urgent Doctors & Accident Centre has provided urgent medical care for non-life-threatening emergencies, illnesses and injuries to both the residents of and visitors to Ōtepoti/Dunedin and Otago.

As a not-for-profit service, we care for people who are unable to access a GP or who need medical attention outside normal hours.

Our highly experienced medical team includes doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and extended care paramedics, with senior medical officer support via telehealth when needed. Our clinical team is supported by a compassionate and responsive administration team.

Our doors are open 24/7, 365 days a year. The type of care you receive depends on the time of day:
  • 8am – 5pm: Nurses triage patients, who are then seen by clinicians — doctors or nurse practitioners — in order of urgency. Radiographers (X-ray technicians) are available on site for any imaging required.
  • 5pm – 10pm: Nurses continue triage and patients are seen by doctors or nurse practitioners as needed. X-rays are available, with radiographers on call from home.
  • After 10pm: Care is provided by registered nurses, paramedics, or extended care paramedics. Senior clinicians are available via telehealth. X-ray services are not available overnight.

We take pride in being an integral part of the Dunedin community and strive to help our clients in their time of need and beyond. Whether you're referred to us by your GP or you walk in directly, you're always assured of high-quality clinical care.

For professional, friendly, and efficient urgent medical care in Dunedin and the Otago region, don't hesitate to visit our clinic or get in touch by calling our administration team
